About Us

Owners Sam & Ron Whelan have been involved in the fabric business for a combined total of 57 years! So we certainly have a combined wealth of many years experience to draw on. Ron first began working in his parents business from 1969 and we started our own Wholesale Fabric business RJ Textiles in 1993.

As RJ Textiles we began to supply the local dance schools with lycra's and fancy holograms, etc. Customers would come in and say "Wow! there's nothing like this anywhere else!" As a result it seemed only natural to start up a sister company dealing with fabrics for the dance and theatrical market.

In December 2005 we moved to our new premises in Riverhead, a gorgeous outer suburb of Auckland and it is here that Dance Fabrics Direct was "Born" in September 2006.

We have seen a fantastic rise in the number of customers coming from word of mouth and web-based enquires from thru'out NZ and now we also export by mail order anywhere in the world.

If you are looking for a half a metre or bulk we can cater to your individual needs. Please enquire re bulk purchases as we can also do wholesale prices.
